Pleasant View Baptist School

"Conforming Children To The Image Of Christ"

Derek Farmer, Administrator

How Our School Began:

For quite some time, the Lord had been working in the heart of our Pastor, Rev. J. Dale Massengale, burdening him for the school age children attending Pleasant View Baptist Church. Within the ministry of the Church, there has always been a Sunday school program, helping to meet the spiritual needs of these young people.

However, the Pastor had a vision that would reach beyond the traditional Sunday school setting and would envelope each student in an academic program with a strong Biblical foundation and spiritual atmosphere.

In the spring of 1999, this program began to take shape and in August of the same year, the first 29 students were welcomed into the freshly painted classrooms of the Pleasant View Baptist School.

We are now in our eighth year of classes, and we praise the Lord for His provision and hand of blessing that has been upon Pleasant View Baptist School.

May we never waiver from the burden and dependence on Him that we experienced at the very beginning.

How Our School Operates:

The Pleasant View Baptist School is a ministry of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and operates as a mission project of the Church.

With the exception of a few carefully selected and approved students, our student body is made up entirely of students within the membership of the Pleasant View Baptist Church.

The day to day operation of the Pleasant View Baptist School is different from that of any school with which we are acquainted. We do not charge a tuition or book fees, but rather depend upon the faithful giving of those within the Pleasant View Baptist Church who are concerned with the Christian education of our young people. Apart from the Administrator, the entire staff is made up of volunteers, dedicated to the education of our students.

The administrator of Pleasant View Baptist School makes most of the day-to-day decisions concerning its operation. In some cases, however, there are decisions that would be inappropriate for one individual to make; therefore, we have a nine-member board which serves to represent the membership of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. The school board endeavors to meet on a monthly basis to discuss the Educational Ministry of the Church and to make any decisions necessary for the successful function of the school.

Quite appropriately, the Chairman of the Board is our Pastor, Rev. J. Dale Massengale.

Contrary to the common practice today of the "tail wagging the dog", we are not a school that happens to be associated with a Church; we are a Church that happens to have a school.

What a wonderful privilege to be involved in this great ministry.
